Career Exploration Internship

Career Exploration Internship course consists of a paid or unpaid work experience in the public or private sector that provides for workplace learning in an area of student career interests. In addition to their work placements, student participate in regularly scheduled meeting with their classroom teacher for the purpose of helping student make the connection between academic learning and their work-related experiences.

Students are required to provide their own transportation to and from their internship site.

This is a full year, three hour, course.

Prerequisite: Acceptance into the program is based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, suitability and behavior of the student, completion of all required paperwork, and availability of an appropriate job placement site.

Placement Host Information

Students are more eager than ever to enter the workforce.  In order to help bridge the gap between entering the workforce and high school, Kankakee Valley High School has implemented a Work-based learning program.

Students are required to spend 10 hours a week at their placement Tuesday- Friday. On Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays students leave school at 11:52 to go to their placements, and on Wednesdays, students leave school at 12:07 to go to their placements.
